Types of plasters. Their application.

Plaster is a coating for internal and outer walls in order to give them functional and decorative features. In this regard, common and decorative plaster are usually distinguished.

Ordinary plaster is based on cement, gypsum, lime, clay binding or various combined solutions. A plastering coating is used to align the walls and give them strength, impermeability and smoothness. In terms of the quality of execution of coating, plaster is divided into ordinary, improved and high -quality. Accordingly, they differ in their cost. This factor must be taken into account.

Decorative plasters are obtained by adding pigments or fillers to their composition that change color or give an unusual relief coating. Thus, it becomes possible to perform color plaster in various shades. Original textured surfaces can be obtained using stone crumbs of various rocks as a filler, quartz sand or specially made granules. Interesting results are given by a all kinds of tools to give the relief: brushes, spatulas, scrapers, rollers, etc. D. A combined approach is quite possible, when the decorativeness of the coating is achieved by the joint use of the pigment and techniques for giving textures.

Separate mention deserves T. n. «Dry plaster», which is a drywall sheets. They are mounted on a specially constructed frame, as a result of which you can get an even, smooth surface without the use of a “wet process” followed by decorative decoration at their discretion. This material is used not only for leveling the walls, but also for the construction of light and rapidly vegetable partitions indoors.

To obtain some additional properties, special additives and fillers are introduced into the composition that give plaster, for example, increased waterproofing or improved thermal insulation characteristics. Such plasters are called special.

Various types of cements can act as additives — waterproof unsuccessful or expanding, as well as enriched with chemical components, for example, nitrogen -acidic calcium.
